What’s going on now?: After graduating Spelman, she pursued a Master’s in Public Health at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Upon graduation, she relocated to Washington, DC for a public health fellowship. Eight years later and still in the nation’s capital, Maranda had invaluable work experience in adolescent health programming, administration, grants management and evaluation. She currently serves as the Co-Founder (along with c/o 2002 sister, Jylana Sheats) and Executive Director of Promising Futures. This youth development after-school program combines performing arts (hip hop, poetry, theatre) with service-learning to build life skills of youth. She is currently a doctoral student studying curriculum & instruction at the George Washington University.

Fondest Spelman Memory: It’s a toss up between:
-Representing Abby Psi Phi in lower manley parties
-Starting the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance chapter (and getting the Morehouse Men of Omega Psi Phi to cosponsor a panel discussion on misogyny)
-Getting signatures from my SOL to attend the Olive Branch block party
-Instituting a condom availability policy on campus (shout out to my co-activist Larena Flemmings)
